Video Request Best Practices

The Video Request campaign type allows you to request and receive videos from your recipients within the ThankView platform. This campaign type includes instructions and auto reminders for the recorders. A video reply is a video that is sent as a reply to a ThankView. This could be from a recorder of a Video Request campaign or a regular recipient sending a video reply of how much they love receiving ThankViews.

What should I include in my written instructions?

  • Who they are (name, location, major, etc.)
  • Why they're recording a video (to say thank you, to share their story, etc.)
  • How long the video should be (30-60 seconds is ideal for most content)

What should I include in my video instructions?

The best use of the ability to attach a video to a Video Request campaign is to show your recorders exactly what you're looking for. Introduce yourself and then explain that you are providing a general example of the kind of video you'd like them to record. This will set correct expectations and make your recorders feel more at ease.

Should I request personalized videos?

Personalize as often as possible, yes! You can include merge fields of recipient information in your Request Instructions so that your recorders can address a donor, alum, volunteer, etc. by first name.

On average, we see a 35% higher retention rate with personalized videos compared to generic content. This just means that your recipients are 35% more likely to finish watching your video if it includes something personal, like their first name.
